Small magnitude 2.6 quake hits 6 km northeast of Baguio City, Philippines early morning 2.6 quake 28 Nov 5:01 am (GMT +8) An earthquake of magnitude 2.6 occurred early morning on Monday, November 28th, 2022, at 5:01 am local time near Baguio City, Benguet, Cordillera, Philippines, as reported by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a very shallow depth of 9 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Trinidad (pop. 41,300) located 4 km from the epicenter, Baguio City (pop. 272,700) 6 km away, Tuding (pop. 7,500) 6 km away, Tublay (pop. 3,700) 9 km away, Loacan (pop. 6,400) 11 km away, and Itogon (pop. 28,400) 12 km away.
