Small magnitude 2.6 earthquake 3 miles northeast of Anaheim, California, United States 2.6 quake 15 Dec 7:26 pm (GMT -8) Just 9 minutes ago, a 2.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Anaheim, Orange County, California, USA. The tremor was recorded early evening on Thursday, December 15th, 2022, at 7:26 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 4.8 miles below the surface. The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it. A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 2.6 earthquake as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 2.6, The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) at magnitude 2.6, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 2.5. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Placentia (pop. 52,500) located 2 miles from the epicenter, Anaheim (pop. 350,700) 3 miles away, Fullerton (pop. 140,800) 4 miles away, Orange (pop. 141,000) 4 miles away, Yorba Linda (pop. 68,000) 4 miles away, Garden Grove (pop. 175,400) 7 miles away, Santa Ana (pop. 335,400) 7 miles away, Tustin (pop. 80,600) 7 miles away, and Northam (pop. 83,300) 8 miles away.
