4.5 quake 29 Dec 11:11 pm (GMT +2)

The National Observatory of Athens (NOA) reported a magnitude 4.5 quake in Greece near Koroni, Messenien, Peloponnese, only 18 minutes ago. The earthquake hit late at night on Thursday, December 29th, 2022, at 11:11 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 8.5 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.4. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.5, and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.5.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Kipoula (pop. 17) located 36 km from the epicenter, Koroni (pop. 1,600) 49 km away, Methoni (pop. 1,200) 58 km away, and Methoni (pop. 1,200) 58 km away.
