3.1 quake 16 Jul 10:54 pm (GMT +2)

A magnitude 3.1 earthquake near Montluçon, Allier, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France, was reported only 12 minutes ago by France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 5 km beneath the epicenter late at night on Sunday, July 16th, 2023, at 10:54 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.3.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Saint-Martinien (pop. 530) located 1 km from the epicenter, Quinssaines (pop. 1000) 4 km away, Huriel (pop. 2,400) 4 km away, Prémilhat (pop. 2,100) 6 km away, and Domérat (pop. 9,000) 6 km away.
