Moderate magnitude 4.5 quake hits 42 km northeast of Santiago de Chile, Chile in the evening

The National Seismological Center (Centro Sismológico Nacional, CSN) of the University of Chile reported a magnitude 4.5 quake in Chile near Santiago de Chile, Provincia de Santiago, Santiago, only 12 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the evening on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023, at 9:42 pm local time at an intermediate depth of 101 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
