Small earthquake of magnitude 2.1 reported 6 km southwest of Fuorigrotta, Italy

A very shallow magnitude 2.1 earthquake was reported late at night near Fuorigrotta, Naples, Campania, Italy.
According to Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the quake hit on Wednesday, September 27th, 2023, at 11:00 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 1.3 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 2.1 as well.
