Small tremor of magnitude 2.3 just reported 7 km southwest of San Sebastian de La Gomera, Spain

A magnitude 2.3 earthquake near San Sebastian de La Gomera, Provinz Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, was reported only 17 minutes ago by Spain's Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 16 km beneath the epicenter in the evening on Sunday, October 29th, 2023, at 9:51 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 2.3 as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Playa de Santiago (pop. 990, 5 km away), San Sebastian de La Gomera (pop. 9,000, 7 km away), Alajero (pop. 2,100, 10 km away), Hermigua (pop. 2,200, 15 km away), Vallehermoso (pop. 3,300, 20 km away), Guia de Isora (pop. 20,500, 41 km away), Adeje (pop. 43,200, 43 km away), and Arona (pop. 78,600, 46 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
