Significant magnitude 5.0 quake hits 88 km southwest of San Antonio, Chile around noon

An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred only 7 minutes ago 88 km southwest of San Antonio, Chile, The National Seismological Center (Centro Sismológico Nacional, CSN) of the University of Chile reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 24 km beneath the epicenter near San Antonio, San Antonio Province, Region de Valparaiso, Chile, around noon on Sunday, January 21st, 2024, at 12:37 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
