Magnitude 2.9 earthquake strikes near Lubin, Lubin County, Lower Silesia, Poland 2.9 quake Poland Jan 22, 2024 05:45 pm (Warsaw time) Just 5 minutes ago, a 2.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Lubin, Lubin County, Lower Silesia, Poland. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Monday, January 22nd, 2024, at 5:45 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface. The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lubin (pop. 77,500) located 3 km from the epicenter, Polkowice (pop. 21,600) 16 km away, and Legnica (pop. 106,000) 19 km away. In Glogow (pop. 68,500, 32 km away), Goldberg (pop. 16,600, 34 km away), Jawor (pop. 23,900, 37 km away), Bolesławiec (pop. 40,700, 44 km away), Strzegom (pop. 17,000, 48 km away), and Breslau (pop. 634,900, 67 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
