Small magnitude 3.6 earthquake 60 km southwest of Preveza, Greece 3.6 quake Greece: 3 Km WSW from Fiskardo Sep 2, 2024 11:22 am (GMT +3) A magnitude 3.6 earthquake near Preveza, Préveza, Epirus, Greece, was reported only 4 minutes ago by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in Greece. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 5 km beneath the epicenter in the morning on Monday, September 2nd, 2024, at 11:22 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.7. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In Agrilias (pop. 46) located 0 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Weak shaking might have been felt in Ithaki (pop. 1,800) located 18 km from the epicenter. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Samos (pop. 1,300) located 23 km from the epicenter, Lixouri (pop. 3,800) 29 km away, Argostoli (pop. 9,800) 30 km away, Valsamata (pop. 1000) 30 km away, Lefkada (pop. 8,700) 45 km away, Palairos (pop. 2,600) 48 km away, and Preveza (pop. 17,300) 60 km away.
Earthquake data: Date & time: Sep 2, 2024 11:22 am (Athens time) local time (2 Sep 2024 08:22 GMT)Magnitude: 3.6 Depth: 5.0 km Epicenter latitude / longitude: 38.44°N / 20.54°E ( Kefallonia, Ionian Islands, Greece) Primary data source: NOAhttps://www.volcanodiscovery.com/earthquake/news/251348/Small-magnitude-36-earthquake-60-km-southwest-of-Preveza-Greece.html
