Small magnitude 3.0 quake hits 10 km southeast of Glogow, Poland early morning

An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred only 20 minutes ago 10 km southeast of Glogow, Poland, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 1 km beneath the epicenter near Glogow, Głogów County, Lower Silesia, Poland, early morning on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, at 5:58 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.7.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Grębocice (pop. 1,500) located 1 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Glogow (pop. 68,500) located 10 km from the epicenter, Polkowice (pop. 21,600) 13 km away, and Lubin (pop. 77,500) 22 km away. In Leszno (pop. 63,600, 38 km away), Nowa Sol (pop. 40,400, 39 km away), Legnica (pop. 106,000, 43 km away), and Bolesławiec (pop. 40,700, 56 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
