Small 3.1 quake hits near Lubin, Lubin County, Lower Silesia, Poland 3.1 quake 19 Sep 5:25 am (GMT +2) An earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred early morning on Thursday, September 19th, 2024, at 5:25 am local time near Lubin, Lubin County, Lower Silesia, Poland, as reported by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 10 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lubin (pop. 77,500) located 2 km from the epicenter, Polkowice (pop. 21,600) 16 km away, and Legnica (pop. 106,000) 19 km away.
