Moderate tremor of magnitude 4.1 just reported 23 km north of Villavicencio, Colombia 4.1 quake 31 Oct 11:08 am (GMT -5) An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred only 10 minutes ago 23 km north of Villavicencio, Colombia, The Colombian Geological Service (SGC) reported. The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 0 km beneath the epicenter near Villavicencio, Meta, Colombia, in the morning on Thursday, October 31st, 2024, at 11:08 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In El Calvario (pop. 560) located 7 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Weak shaking might have been felt in Restrepo (pop. 7,500) located 14 km from the epicenter, Cumaral (pop. 11,300) 20 km away, and Villavicencio (pop. 321,700) 23 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Acacias (pop. 40,600) located 42 km from the epicenter, Bogota (pop. 7,674,400) 56 km away, Soacha (pop. 313,900) 68 km away, Chia (pop. 64,600) 73 km away, Funza (pop. 54,400) 74 km away, and Fusagasuga (pop. 88,800) 79 km away.
