Small magnitude 3.7 quake hits 52 km southeast of Sitia, Greece in the morning 3.7 quake Greece: 33 Km SSE from Zakros Nov 5, 2024 08:51 am (GMT +2) A magnitude 3.7 earthquake near Sitia, Lasithi, Crete, Greece, was reported only 9 minutes ago by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in Greece. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter in the morning on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, at 8:51 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Perivolakia (pop. 21) located 43 km from the epicenter, Palekastro (pop. 1,100) 44 km away, Makrigialos (pop. 760) 49 km away, Sitia (pop. 8,700) 52 km away, Kentri (pop. 1000) 68 km away, and Ierapetra (pop. 12,400) 68 km away.
