Magnitude 4.2 earthquake strikes near King Cove, Aleutians East, Alaska, USA 4.2 quake 6 Nov 3:27 pm (GMT -9) A magnitude 4.2 earthquake near King Cove, Aleutians East, Alaska, USA, was reported only 18 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate to considerable depth of 106 miles beneath the epicenter early afternoon on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, at 3:27 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.2 earthquake as well. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Nelson Lagoon (pop. 52, 33 miles away), Cold Bay (pop. 120, 58 miles away), and King Cove (pop. 1000, 61 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
