Moderate magnitude 4.0 quake hits 45 miles northwest of Sand Point, Alaska, United States after midnight

Just 16 minutes ago, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Sand Point, Aleutians East, Alaska, USA. The tremor was recorded after midnight on Friday, December 27th, 2024, at 12:16 am local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 103 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.5.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Nelson Lagoon (pop. 52, 20 miles away), Sand Point (pop. 1,100, 45 miles away), and King Cove (pop. 1000, 59 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
