Small magnitude 3.4 quake hits 12 km northeast of Pontevedra, Spain early morning

An earthquake of magnitude 3.4 occurred early morning on Sunday, January 12th, 2025, at 1:24 am local time near Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain, as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 24.1 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera, IPMA) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.7. A third agency, Spain's Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.4.
