Small 2.8 quake hits near Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia An earthquake of magnitude 2.8 occurred only 16 minutes ago 29 miles south of Canberra, New South Wales, Australia, Geoscience Australia (GeoAu) reported. The quake hit at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles beneath the epicenter near Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia, late at night on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, at 11:01 pm local time.
