Small magnitude 2.4 earthquake 11 km west of Naples, Italy

Just 20 minutes ago, a 2.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Naples, Campania, Italy. The tremor was recorded late at night on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025, at 10:42 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 2.80 km below the surface.
The event was filed by Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.4 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Cigliano (pop. 340) located 1 km from the epicenter.
