Moderate magnitude 4.1 quake hits 63 km north of Valparaiso, Chile early evening

Just 17 minutes ago, a 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Valparaiso, Provincia de Valparaíso, Chile. The tremor was recorded early evening on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, at 7:22 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 57.66 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.1 earthquake as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.4, and The National Seismological Center (Centro Sismológico Nacional, CSN) of the University of Chile at magnitude 4.5.
