Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.9 just reported 62 km northeast of Kerman, Iran

An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred only 9 minutes ago 62 km northeast of Kerman, Iran, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter near Kerman, Iran, early afternoon on Monday, March 24th, 2025, at 2:17 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.9 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Kerman (pop. 577,500) located 62 km from the epicenter, Ravar (pop. 40,200) 80 km away, and Zarand (pop. 59,000) 81 km away.
