Magnitude 3.8 earthquake strikes near Turin, Piedmont, Italy A very shallow magnitude 3.8 earthquake was reported early morning near Turin, Piedmont, Italy. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, at 1:21 am local time at a very shallow depth of 5. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.7. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Oulx (pop. 2,300) located 6 km from the epicenter. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Pinerolo (pop. 30,900) located 45 km from the epicenter, Piossasco (pop. 16,900) 50 km away, Rivoli (pop. 48,600) 53 km away, Collegno (pop. 46,500) 57 km away, Grugliasco (pop. 36,700) 58 km away, Nichelino (pop. 47,800) 64 km away, Turin (pop. 847,300) 66 km away, and Moncalieri (pop. 56,100) 67 km away.
