SPC Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook

Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1150 AM CDT Fri Oct 31 2025

Valid 311700Z - 011200Z

...NO CRITICAL AREAS...

No changes to the Day 1 Outlook, with limited overlap of dry/breezy
conditions and receptive fuels across the Contiguous U.S.

...Southwest and Southern High Plains...
An incipient surface trough in eastern NM will gradually move into
the Permian Basin region by this afternoon. The associated
tightening pressure gradient through the day along with deep layer
west-northwest flow will bring increased westerly winds west of the
Continental Divide for eastern AZ and much of NM. East of the
surface trough/low, south to southwest winds of around 15 mph are
expected across West TX. Although locally elevated fire weather
conditions are expected where breezy winds and daytime relative
humidity near 15% align, fuels remain largely unreceptive to
wildfire spread, limiting a broader fire weather threat.

.PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 0152 AM CDT Fri Oct 31 2025/

...Synopsis...
A mid-level trough will amplify over the central U.S. as upper
ridging builds along the West Coast today. Surface high pressure
will overspread much of the western into the central U.S. as a
surface cyclone departs New England. As such, overall quiescent fire
weather conditions are expected across the CONUS, with relatively
cool or moist low-level conditions expected over most locales.
