Moderate 4.5 quake hits near Olongapo, Zambales, Central Luzon, Philippines A magnitude 4.5 earthquake near Olongapo, Zambales, Central Luzon, Philippines, was reported only 16 minutes ago by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter early morning on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, at 6:11 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.5 as well. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Panan (pop. 2,300) located 48 km from the epicenter, San Narciso (pop. 32,200) 51 km away, and San Antonio (pop. 38,600) 53 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Masinloc (pop. 56,600) located 65 km from the epicenter, Subic (pop. 67,700) 69 km away, and Olongapo (pop. 221,200) 76 km away. VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via our mobile app. This will help us provide more first-hand updates to anyone around the globe who wants to know more about this quake.
