Moderate 4.6 quake hits near Gorontalo, Kota Gorontalo, Indonesia

Just 7 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Gorontalo, Kota Gorontalo, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded early morning on Friday, December 26th, 2025, at 1:01 am local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 233. km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.7. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 4.6.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Gorontalo (pop. 198,500, 67 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
