Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.2 just reported 9 km west of Tsukuba, Japan

An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred only 20 minutes ago 9 km west of Tsukuba, Japan, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 50. km beneath the epicenter near Tsukuba, Tsukuba Shi, Ibaraki, Japan, in the morning on Sunday, January 25th, 2026, at 11:46 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
