Moderate magnitude 4.1 earthquake 31 miles southwest of Cantwell, Alaska, United StatesThe European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 4.1 quake in the United States near Cantwell, Denali, Alaska, only 3 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Friday, January 30th, 2026, at 12:27 pm local time at an intermediate depth of 59 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Cantwell (pop. 220) located 31 miles from the epicenter. In Healy (pop. 1000, 59 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
