Magnitude 4.1 earthquake strikes near Homer, Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, USA An intermediate magnitude 4.1 earthquake was reported in the morning near Homer, Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, USA. According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake hit on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026, at 7:44 am local time at an intermediate depth of 51 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.0 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.1. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Anchor Point (pop. 1,900) located 18 miles from the epicenter, Diamond Ridge (pop. 1,200) 28 miles away, Homer (pop. 5,500) 29 miles away, Ninilchik (pop. 880) 31 miles away, and Fritz Creek (pop. 1,900) 37 miles away. In Cohoe (pop. 1,400, 55 miles away), and Kalifornsky (pop. 7,900, 58 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
