Small tremor of magnitude 2.5 just reported 12 km northeast of Mdiq, Morocco An earthquake of magnitude 2.5 occurred early evening on Sunday, May 10th, 2026, at 6:01 pm local time near Mdiq, M'Diq-Fnideq, Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Morocco, as reported by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake. According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a very shallow depth of 4. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Cap Negro II (pop. 10,000) located 12 km from the epicenter, and Mdiq (pop. 61,400) 12 km away. In Fnidek (pop. 84,600, 15 km away), Martil (pop. 70,300, 16 km away), Ceuta (pop. 83,200, 17 km away), Tetouan (pop. 415,800, 23 km away), Gibraltar (pop. 26,500, 45 km away), Algeciras (pop. 121,400, 46 km away), and Tangier (pop. 1,035,100, 51 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
