Small 3.1 quake hits near Vlore, Bashkia Vlorë, Qarku i Vlores, Albania

Just 20 minutes ago, a 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Vlore, Bashkia Vlorë, Qarku i Vlores, Albania. The tremor was recorded early morning on Friday, May 29th, 2026, at 3:06 am local time, at a shallow depth of 15.70 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Geophysical Lab. (AUTH) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.8. Other agencies reporting the same quake include The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS) at magnitude 3.4, and The Seismological Laboratory of the University of Athens (UOA) at magnitude 3.0.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Novosele (pop. 8,200) located 9 km from the epicenter, Selenice (pop. 6,900) 9 km away, Vlore (pop. 115,300) 12 km away, Patos Fshat (pop. 22,700) 12 km away, Patos (pop. 16,000) 14 km away, and Fier (pop. 56,300) 17 km away. In Kucove (pop. 31,100, 41 km away), Lushnje (pop. 63,100, 43 km away), and Peqin (pop. 16,600, 56 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
