Small magnitude 3.6 earthquake 54 miles northeast of Sand Point, Alaska, United States A magnitude 3.6 earthquake near Sand Point, Aleutians East, Alaska, USA, was reported only 3 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles beneath the epicenter early morning on Monday, June 15th, 2026, at 3:35 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.6 as well. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Perryville (pop. 110) located 33 miles from the epicenter. In Chignik Lake (pop. 73, 48 miles away), Nelson Lagoon (pop. 52, 49 miles away), and Sand Point (pop. 1,100, 54 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
