Moderate magnitude 4.5 earthquake hits near Sanchez-Mira, Cagayan Valley, Philippines A magnitude 4.5 earthquake near Sanchez-Mira, Cagayan, Cagayan Valley, Philippines, was reported just 2 minutes ago by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the main national agency monitoring seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 8. km beneath the epicenter after midnight on Sunday, September 13th, 2026, at 12:10 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their reports.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the epicentral area.
