Day 2 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0202 PM CDT Sun Oct 04 2026

Valid 051200Z - 061200Z

The existing Elevated Wind/RH area was expanded to include central
and southeastern WY where weak to moderate lee side winds (sustained
at 15-20 mph) will impact portions of western, central, and
southeastern WY. These winds will be coincident with above normal
temperatures supporting deep-mixing and afternoon RHs near 10-20%
over eastern WY. Though dead fuels are less dry over this region,
the increased winds amid warm and dry conditions will support some
fire weather threat.

...Synopsis...
A mid-level jet will move across parts of the northern Rockies
during the afternoon. This feature will promote increased downslope
winds, particularly in the lee of the terrain, behind a surface
trough farther to the east. Winds near the terrain will be 15-20 mph
with locally higher speeds possible. RH will fall to 15-20% given
the unseasonably warm temperatures. Elevated fire weather can be
expected for a few hours on Monday.
