A 31-ton propane tank and steel tower once used for firefighter training in Mississippi have been sunk about 13 miles offshore to create an artificial reef for marine life. Supported by Chevron and local organisations, the project aims to provide shelter for fish and improve fishing opportunities. A similar reef created in 2023 now supports more than 530 red snapper, according to official estimates. Source: Mississippi sinks 31-ton propane tank and steel tower to build fish reef
