In an exciting conservation effort, scientists are set to reintroduce the frosted elfin butterfly to Ontario, a species that vanished nearly forty years ago. Adult butterflies and their eggs are being moved from New York for breeding in captivity before their release. The initial reintroduction is planned for spring 2027 in Port Rowan, where habitats have been carefully restored. Source: Rare frosted elfin butterfly to return to Ontario after 34 years
