quote:
Originally posted by Salvatore Scevola:
G'day Guys,

Good to see there is a bit of discussion on here about our new service. as you will see from the test signal, we will be showing a 1 hour promo from this weekend. whist the service is formed primarily from a consortium of CTS program producers it will also include much more programming form all over Australia and New Zealand. As for the comments from Joseph Safi, regarding Ch31, I have some news for him and others: Ch31 Sydney was barely represented at the annual CBAA conference last weekend in Qld and are quite far from getting their service up and running, and as usual is dogged with infighting. The Executive director appointed this year the infamous mr David Hill (ex ABC Man Director) resigned last week and I have heard Slice TV the community arm of Ch31 is wanting to break from the consortium. This is the reason we decided to re-group and form AMTV. As others have commented it can be picked up on KU band in digital format all over the broadcast footprint. Our new Wesite will be up and running soon and we welcome your comments. We do not operate in competition with the 31's across australia but rather in tandem with them. No one is more supportive of the community Tv sector than myself and our members having lobbied for years for the permanment licenses for all the 31's. the main problem with them is that they have no Federal government funding and are therefore unable to function profitably for the long haul. This is the state that the commercial networks wish to maintain them. I appreciate mr Safi's enthusiasim but it is better for him to inform himself of the real facts about community broadcasting before making unrealistic projections about ratings, i note that he was not a community broadcaster on CTS unlike most of us who were a part of it since its inception.

i look forward to hearing your replies.

Cheers,

Salv,

Hey Salv - great news.

What are the possibilities of some Spanish content down the track - we have one of the largest communities here in Australia, but no services - even TV Chile has gone from UBI.

Couldn't you feature some of their programmes?

Great service, like the demo tape - look forward to seeing more!

Hasta pronto
