It's pretty stupid to make the customer give you the TARBS box even though they own it and then be given a rental TV Plus box. Doesn't seem fair.

Does anyone know how much discount do they offer for the ex-Tarbs box? There are some friends of mine and my father in law are waiting for a cheap box to join UBI. Please, let me know if its reasonable price...

So, if they give you $100 discount for them, how much would that be with or without box which will make it clear for the box discount. Am I right?

Who are we talking about here? TVPlus ?

Let me get this right...You want to buy a "returned" Mentor STB from TV+??
...Bwahahahahaha
Don't even think about it! They would rather eat the box than give you the opportunity to go to their competitor!!!

I know why they do that. As, I explained on another post to Phil, they just want to stop ppl going back to UBI after joining TV Plus. It will be a bit costly decision for someone who may go back to UBI if the things is not good enough with TV Plus... Anyway, if anyone is would like to sell the box including all its gear "SmartCard & Remote", I/m willing to pay the discount price as it will be used by a pensioner to join to UBI. Thanks for all the support....

fsking,
I know you are. There are thousand of people that would do it. Even I would offer $$$ for a STB3100's, any quantity, but the reality is that people will just think it's too hard. They don't like strange people comming over to offer 'em money for their dish. They'll think it's some sorta scam, bla bla... and they just won't do it.

Same to me, if someone smart enough to realise why the heck they are offering the discount for the box, then they can not buy those boxes to screw you in later time...

12 month contract with a startup company is a huge risk. I'll wait for better offers.

Hello All

I go away for a few hrs and the forum is really busy..

Ok 12 month contract is standard go get a mobile phone and you will sign a contract for 12 - 24 mths.

When you consider the costs for Settop box, Irdeto Smart Card and related software plus ongoings for the conditional access alone it costs a fair amount..

So a 12 month contract is reasonable I would think

I would advise people to wait before joining a new company with a 12 month contract. The website doesn't even function or provide updated information.

I am advised that the reason for the settop box change over is to make sure that "Genuine" X Tarbs customers recieve a discount.

TV+ are loosing hand over fist on the NEW installs (TV+ supplies the antenna, STB, LNB, Bracket etc) but TV+ dont want to price the product out of the market.

TV+ also feels sorry for all the EX TARBS customers that were ripped off and lost so much money in the TARBS recivership so TV+ is offering genuine EX TARBS customers a discount to signup for the TV+ Service.

TV+ Dont want ex "FOX$EL or OP$US Vision" customers calling up saying Im an ex TARBS customer I have the antenna etc please do an "existing" install as TV+ will be loosing more $$$

By physically taking the STB TV+ has confirmed that the customer was a former TARBS customer and is due for the discounted install..

Does this make sense???

Cheers

TV Plus can see if they are "genuine" ex TARBS sub when they arrive at the customers residence and see the TARBS box or TARBS paper work. There is no need for the TV Plus to take the IRD when it belongs to the customer.

If TV Plus was doing a "genuine" swap over then fine but the way TV Plus are doing it is wrong as the customer is only "renting" the TV Plus box and no "owning" it like the TARBS box.

I agree with you Satfreak, it is reasonable provided I pay monthly and a minimum install fee. What bothers me is that in couple months time there could be a better deal around, including from TV+. This happened with DigiPlus recently, initially they were signing 12 month contracts but then reduced it to 3 months for the same deal and screwed up their first customers, the most loyal and trusting bunch.

yes what happens to ppl that decide that they dnt want tv plus anymore and decide to change to UBI then it will end up costing the person more cause they will have to re purchase the tarbs box again

as liski said when the installer arrives at the persons house they can see that they have the tarbs box or paper work and thats enough proof

doesnt that make sence??

Ok

TV+ has not been focused on the WWW site just getting all the backends working - Conditional Access, Transmission Agreements etc so

Za sve zainteresovane u Balkanski paket TV Plus, kupite Vesti, Srpski Glas ili slusajte SBS radio svakog dana.

[ 15. maybe customers share the boxes around,...

The decision was made to offer the customers a signifant discount but to insure that no customers or installers do any shiftys the old box MUST come back or the customer will be charged the fee difference,,,

Then you can use the TARBS paper work as evidence or proof. Most customers still have their TARBS paper work.

Liski I will pass your comments on,,,

One thing I can day is Digi+ and DSL is totally different to Sat.

There will be only 1 company offering Balkan services. It is yet to be proved which one it will be.

This company will be offering the same package as perviously and possibly more channels from the region. As all transmission and content agreements are for a number of years the company will want to insure that the revenue is protected and that the customers will be around for the long haul not just loafers...

Look at the larger providers or even the smaller ones like Transact and Neighbourhood Cable they are all min 12 months..

Bedouin,

Do you know how much it is per a customer to subsidise the install? You need to factor in the number of stories of the house. One install could cost up to $500 for a 3 storey house.

Spread the cost over couple years and everybody's happy, provided you believe your business is in for the long run.
