Yes I totally agree and I won't let industry take over the forums.
I suspect there are UBI people on these forums but at least they don't dig into everyone like ja and his aliases.
As for Satfreak I will be closely monitoring his post as there is definitely a connection between them.

Farseas,

Geez, where were you all this time?

Now, sit down and let me whip out my crystal ball and see exactly what equipment you have so that I can tell you what to do.

…hmmmm, I see a Mentor box, yes, yes defiantly a mentor box. I cannot quite make out the model number. Looks like STB-31… no can’t make out the other bit.
Oh yes and here is a dish….yup it’s a Ku offset dish, ok.

…do you get the drift, man?

@Rad, what you talking about?
@Farseas - Short answer ...No! Long answer is, ...ummm, No because UBI will remove your channel auth's as soon as you do a channel update and then your stuffed. So I guess it's no.

reuder,

You do it by moving the dish 9mm towards the west and elevate it to about 52 deg elevation

BTW it's me Vlad

globecast you can. You need to do what I just told reuder and load up Globecast transponder frequency and do a channel update.

Farseas,

First of you’ll need a protractor, a spirit level and a long strait stick (the longer the better) or better yet a plastic pipe. With your protractor make a 51 degree angle between the spirit level and the stick and fasten the stick to the spirit at that angle. Now go to where your dish is and set the spirit level with the ground. Look up the side of the stick or through the hole of the pipe. If you see blue sky you are laughing.

Mind you 51 degrees is quite steep. A tree 100m away would have to be (where is my scientific calculator when I need one), some 120m high.

Hight of tree = 100m away X tan 50 degree = 123.4

Vlad...

Hahahaa...
Oh what a rip-off, for re-directing the existing dish, they charge $50-$60 in Sydney, how come its double in Canberra. Perhaps, it might be the capital city effect...

No, not enough competition! That’s what these two companies are trying to do to each other too

Darth, What about the other companies, such as Horizon TV, My TV+, WMI, PBS etc... Don't they create any competition at all?

here in Canberra everything is dearer(what a capital city. I have lived in sydney for several years. I think it is the best city and things are cheaper and more available. I am going to quit my job and come back to sydney as soon as I can. If anybody wants to come to capital thik about it for a while.

Just a comment for you wogs, there is less tolerance for you here.

Farseas,
Ok if you stand in front and look towards your dish, the LNB needs to be so that the cable is on the bottom pointing slightly to the right, like 5 O'Clock.
What is it's possition now? Once you change it, scan again and all should be good.

Vlad...

I still have probs with 12525. I can easily get 12658. The LNB is exactly at the position Drath vade have mentioned. the signal quality is 36%.

When I turn the dish about 1-2 degs to the east the box try to seek signal from transponders 12407, 12527, and 12720 ( 30000, vertical) and it says all info recieved but shows no TV channels (just ESPN, CNN,NGC,... from old Tarb channels).

However, turning the dish 1-2 degs to west again to its original position, it quickly lock on 12658 vertical(only) and shows all globecast channels on that frequency.

Can you think of anything I have to do?Please help if you can.

The hight of the dish, with respect to the ground has no bearing. The satellite is some 37,000km away from us. Bringing the dish 1 meter closer to the sat wont improve the signal much!

[ 18. The dish is about 4 meters high above the ground,
but the problem is the box, would not load up that freq. What channels you after? I was after the ERT greek channel, but now i can get it thru
UBI, with 12613 H 22500 freq.
