Talking to a few at Uni that their parents had Tarbs and now have UBI the big question was:
The Main three packages from UBI are 1/Arabic, 2/ Turkish, 3/ Spanish, how do they compare between what TARBS had in the early days to what we have today with UBI.
Do you think UBI's packages are about the same or lots better than what TARBS had to offer?.

TARBS was much better - since UBI can not have PINNK, PINK Plus, BN and BK TV, there is no other good Serb channels left there. And no one wants to say what Serb channels are coming onto UBI. As well, with TARBS I had National Geographic, ESPN, Cartoon Network, MTV, Fashion TV and much more and I was paying only $49.

Arabic and Spanish packages might be better but what about us from Balkan????????

So sad

UBI is bette than TARBS, TARBS tried to take on the Rupert satellite empire was nearly did it.

Shame about Huhges Satellite Corp being sold by GM to News Corp (DirecTV) and with it DirecTV selling the satellite network off thus causing TABS in Australia to get the PAS8 satellite feed shut down.

So far UBI is doing the right thing and Optus is also doing the right thing (hey whats the point of having a satellite doing nothing up there)

In case anyone is wondering, the B1 SPC was fully tested and passed and its expected to last for 18 months, which is more than enough time for the D1 to repalce the B1.

"In case anyone is wondering, the B1 SPC was fully tested and passed and its expected to last for 18 months, which is more than enough time for the D1 to replace the B1."

NO ONE can say that the current SCP on BI will last 18 months -no way can anyone say that it will even last until the weekend. Hughes reckoned that if a satellite lasted for more that 6 years without an SCP failure then the probability analysis says it will not have any SCP failures at all. B1 was 9 years old when the primary SCP failed - ang goes that theory.

HOW OLD IS B3 ? Oh dear, keep those fingers and toes and any other appendages you can think of crossed.

On the subject of Tarbs not being able to pay the money - that is quite probably true. What you have to know is WHY they could not pay the money due and on time. Could it be that the terms of the arrangement with Panamsat was changed ? New company owners, new policies, vested intrest ?
Tarbs was reportedly within 10,000 subsciptions of breaking even. Solution from News Corp - kill the opposition and have it all to yourself.
Love conspiracy theories........

I don't think that UBI is better with channels,
that Tarbs. UBI like Tarbs -
should to work for
Ethnik communities, not for TV in English, for that
we got Foxstel
But UBI got a lot of Arabic, but not Euro TV Channels,Like Tarbs use to have.

UBI does get a condesending reference on the web site, of sorts. What about the listing of Fiji TV for Intelsat 701 yet lack of mention PBS, on the same satellite. Slightly one-eyed , do you think ?
Could be his name is Barbie.
Love those loyalties !!!!!!

"On the subject of Tarbs not being able to pay the money - that is quite probably true. What you have to know is WHY they could not pay the money due and on time."

Irrelevent! if you don't have $$$$$$$ to pay the bills then you shape up or ship out. Says more about poor management of Tarb's than anything else.

"Could it be that the terms of the arrangement with Panamsat was changed ? New company owners, new policies, vested intrest ?"

Could this b.s be spouted all over the place in the vain hope that it deflects from the fact that Plain and simple in its existing format Tarb's failed.

"Tarbs was reportedly within 10,000 subsciptions of breaking even. Solution from News Corp - kill the opposition and have it all to yourself. "

Tarb's words no-one elses..! if they didn't throw money all over the place such as failed attempts to get into U.S market. They may have been able to pay the bills. Don't tell me contract prices shot up. Where was the backup plan?

Give me some date please no matter how far in future that is. Everyone here in Adelaide I know wants to subscribe to TV Plus since they have Serbian channels and I’ve been telling them to wait…don’t know what else to say……..
