No It is just a common sense. I would assume IPTR will be in trouble without Soccer and Iranian Government TV wants to make money not spend money (at least). So The only way is to go with UBI as IPTR belong to opposition(enemy). I was surprised when it came to Globecast. The only way for IRIB on Ku band is UBI.That is my Guess.

My freind has got this email from IRIB3:

For your information , Globecast Company recently had started to
broadcast IRIB 3 on OPTUS B3 in Australia to see if there are some
customers for this service. This program is not broadcast on behalf of
IRIB and this means that we are not involved in this test transmission.
At the moment they have finished this test and stopped transmission .
There has been no relation with IRIB in this respect. We have objected
this illegal broadcast by Globecast company .
We are very sorry for this problem which was created by them for you.
Best Regards
IRIB

Yeh!

It seems they were going to attract iranians attention to IPTR (a company that support political channels against Iranian Government.IRIB3 is very popular for its soccer and its TV series but politicaly is for Iranian Government as it is a Government TV.

That means Jame jam top officials will be in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourn over the next week. Wrong or right, it looks to me that it means we will know who will win the challenge, Globecast or UBI. UBI is in a better position. It seems this is why UBI has not claimed the exclusive right on IRIB3 yet???!!! and has not aired Jame jam yet.

I do not hesitate to say UBI package is my faviorate simply because IPTR channels are less entertaining.

There has been a lot of discussions on this matter since last time I logged in.
Well I hope UBI are not going to go bankrupt soon just like their parent company TARBS who took my money in advance and closed down their business and started again under UBI
I certainly will not subscribe to them. I would rather not watch Iranian TV than subscriing to them. In any case what are they going to show? Tapesh (which is by all account a porn channel anyway) I hope other people who have been rubbed like many hundreds of Iranian will remember when they just siwtched off and took every ones money.

F****as, I have been complaining to IRIB about the fact that the c band reception is hard to get especially in Sydney and they have never replied to me. Glad that they have sent you a reply. I am tempted to get my dish repositioned and get the IRIB. The problem I have is the interfernce from wireless broadband users in my neoghbourhood which makes it impossible to watch IRIB3. Anyone has a suggestion?

Hi Mahal,

Its long time I have not talked to you in this forum. Nice to talk to you again.

I do not share some of your views.Tapesh TV is not a porn channel (as you said).Tapesh is a good Iranian entertaining channel. Why are you against it?

Lets respect all businesses that are helping us: UBI, Globecast, IPTR, etc. Tarbs is behind us now.
It looks to me that UBI is doing a good job for Iranian community at this time. Don't you think so?

Thank you Fraseas, It is good to be back at the forum and getting the chance to air my opinion. Tapesh has content wich is so allien to Persian culture which I can not bring myself to watch it with family. It is strictly a 6&8 channel (Bolywood equivalant of Iran) which blatently spreading the wrong message about Iranian culture. It never even once put a single item of news abut Iran in its so called news.

Have you ever watched the IPTR locally produced programmes? They are first class. It is eductaional, artistic and high quality programmes produced in Australia for the first time ever. Globecast representative came to their studios and discussed how and why they were broadcasting the IRIB3 on a test transmission. They had agreement to broadcast this and unlike UBI which did it without any authority from them and now if IRIB guys are here to find out if UBI or Globecast should broadcast their picture, then what does that mean? UBI has no agreement to broadcast the IRIB3 or at the very least can not encrypt the signal for ever? (This is according to the information that you have mentioned in this forum) Why do you think UBI would do such a thing? They are after money and nothing else they could not give a damn about Persian community at all.

I called UBI when they first started their broadcast and asked them about Iranian programmes and the reply I had was so rude that I would not bring myself to write about it in this forum. In summary they told me the Iranian community needs to have 1500 subscribers all of whom provide their completed form for subscription before they even consider it. When IRIB and NITV left our screen there was a mass meeting at Tarbs building complining about it and they did not listen at all to anything they had to say.

How come today with all of these behind us UBI suddenly decide to bring two Iranian Channels and FTA for nearly 4 months? I sense that they are up to something? May be they think they have the divine right to multi cultural TV stations in Australia? May be they want IPTR destroyed before they encrypt their signal? Should not we have a choice between two competing TV stations which is the basis of a democracy?

I respect every one opinion and businesses for as long as they are being fair and open and not run away from their moral obligations.
Please rememeber that several hundreds of old age pensioners were rubbed of their money by TARBS in the past. All I am saying is that we need to look at the facts and figures and then make a clear judgment. That is why me and many hundreds like me in Sydney will never let a tarbs look alike into our homes we have bitten before by them and once is enough.

[ 08. Hi Mahal,
No one has lost money with TARBS, if any one has any claim they can fwd their payment receipt to UBI and will get free subscription for the amount they have paid to UBI. When TARBS took NITV off air they were only14 people who went to TARBS to put their case to the management and not 100 as you claim. I agree with you that should be fair competition so why is IPTR is taking the TARBS old decoders from their customers house, are they afraid people might switch to UBI and also why they are claming that they have 4 channels on air? , TAPESHand AFN is not part of their package

Mahal,

Thanks for your comprehensive post.

I understand some of your points but it looks to me you are going to extremes. I have not seen any channel that represents Iranian culture completely and truly, each provides some programs that a person with Iranian background and speaking Farsi language can enjoy. I watch Tapesh (if I get time) because they are not going to extreme politics and make some happy time for us, providing sport programs, music, etc. I am not expecting them to teach me Iranian culture. In that sense this is a channel different from all other channels that I have seen.
I hate sitting and watching a TV program in which they are screaming, winging and annoying people. It is funny when they want to overthrow Iranian regime (who forced us to live aboard) by crying and winging while they are unable to understand political issues and are giving false and inaccurate analysis (mostly).

I have watched IPTR. Their local program are not bad and NITV has some good programs but it seems you are exaggerating.

I love some programs on NITV and hate some others that unfortunately are broadcasting at prime times. I was one of the people who was initially going to unsubscribe Tarbs (at the time) because they removed NITV but later on I felt so much more comfortable when I watched Tapesh TV (because they did entertain us by soccer, and other entertaining programs). I must say that I missed Sabet_Imani, Engheta’s programs.

As far as IPTR says their main objective is to set up a 24hrs Iranian TV program in Australia which is a good idea and we need to support this goal. However if they aim to set up a pay TV business it is a different story because in that case I am a customer who seeks a better service that I pay for it. I think in that case we should let the business rule works by itself.

About Jame Jam TV: I enjoy watching and playing soccer, so I like to watch Iranian soccer matches that are broadcasting on Jame Jam. Also traditional music, News from inside on Jame Jam. I can also watch news from AFN (which has some good political experts), CNN and BBC as well. This help me not to be misled politically or brainwashed (I like to live in the real world). This is one of the reason I like UBI package.

The problem with IPTR is that I am sensing that they are going to use people political motivations, for their own business interests. I hope it would not be true and have no proof for this but the way they are speaking, tell me to be alert. I would also be alert not to trap in Tarbs manner.

The information I provided about IRIB3 were on emails that IRIB sent to all people who contact IRIB3 by email (let me explain that I prefer to pay and subscribe to a pay TV company for Jame Jam rather than putting a 3m dish in my backyard.). I post my info here for those who are interested because they were interesting to me. My comments were just my guess and is not necessarily true. So I do not know if UBI has permission. I like Jame Jam to stay on Pay TV network simply because that’s the only way I can watch.

I wish both UBI and IPTR success.

BTW a simple question, are you working for IPTR?

Hi Dada,
What if the people who are owed money to do not trust UBI enough to subscribe?
Just for your information a petition was organised in one of the Iranian shop and the rest of the Iranian shops joined in and a total of greater than 400 of the Tarbs customers signed I was no 364 or there about I think.
That was forwarded to TARBS and they said they will only speak to a limited no of people at TARBS. That is why there were only 14 people were at the meeting according to you since I was not there myself.
As i do not work for IPTR nor do I have anything to do with marketing I suggest you contact IPTR and let them know.
However they have a weekly live show which is dedicated to the viewers and people can call in with their views. All the information supplied here are from their Wednesday show that I have watched so far. I actually missed a couple of the Wednesday show.

Just for your information I thought I could use my TARBS box and not pay the $210 for the IPTR receiver, but when they tuned my dish they said the TARBS box is not suitable for their channels and asked me to keep it. I still have the OLD tarbs box in the house which I have paid dearly for to TARBS. I can only go bny their weekly programme as to what they are telling their audiences. Every wednesday they have all the news about IPTR in public display and people call in and ask questions. I have no doubt UBI listen to the conversation and since you have such a detailed information may be you should try to watch it so that you can check for your self that they always said that the AFN and Tapesh belong to UBI and they have nothing to do with it.
I hope one day UBI will have an open forum in their TV channel which people can call in and give them their opinion GOOD or BAD.
