In the next day or so I will right a little tutorial on what to do when Flashing a Dreambox, because If you don't you will stuff the box. I have flashed many with no problems as long as you follow these rules.

heheeh I thought so...didnt understand much there...to be honest I dont understand a point of a dream box if u can hardly get any good fta channels on it..For eg I d buy it IF I could I dunno hook it up to tarbs box set to record certain shows without my mum interputing it in the morning when I am asleep..like her watching sum other chs...But you see all of the channels are going via TARBS box that I want to watch or record on dvd..and to be honest I cant think of any good chs that are FTA on k band
so for me its a bit of a waste of money....UNLESS there is something good about it I dunt know about

Yes and thats it!! there are lots of things that are not talked about, PPL that have been using these boxes know what i'm talking about, See Foxtel Lawyers have a habit of searching forums to see what is being said about card sharing, you must remember when Foxtel changed to Irdeto 2 and NDS they partied on because it was the end of piracy but within 4 weeks the first method of card sharing was tried and tested (season Interface) locally and within weeks it was tried over the Net. Now that was the GW Method and it was not long after that when the Dreambox started to have images used in Australia for card sharing.

The things not to forget to Flash a Dreambox ( Replace Firmware)
Now These points a VERY INPORTANT!!.

1/ Before you do anything to your Dreambox in your Computer room You must connect a earth to the box, When buying from austech they supply the earth strap. Now this earth strap must be fitted before flashing otherwise you can stuff the box or corrupt the firmware or stuff the BOOTLOADER. So what I do is when the box is ready connected to my computer via RS 232 waiting to be flashed I have a SPECIAL lead with a 3 pin plug, now this 3 pin plug plugs into a power point and only has one wire coming out of it and its connected to the EARTH and on the other end of the SINGLE wire is a Battery Clamp which clamps on the IF input connector so by doing this the box is EARTHED CORRECTLY BEFORE STARTING.
2/ NEVER, I SAY AGAIN NEVER FLASH using Dreamuplan
yes its fast but you will fuck the bootloader.
USE ONLY!!!! Dreamup 2.14B to flash your box via serial port, its slow ( 12 minutes ) but safe.
3/ ALWAYS!!!! Flash erase before and after flashing a IMAGE, You Must do it!!, Again BEFORE AND AFTER if the don't the image will be corrupted
4/ HOW TO FLASH ERASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before doing the second Flash erasing afer the image has been uploaded to the Dreambox and the image is finished, turn the 240V off and disconnect the RS 232 Computer cable, CONNECT a SCART Euro plug to the back of the Dreambox to a TV so when you turn the 240V back on you can get a
Setup guide on the TV.
NOW!!!!! You turn the 240V on,,, You look at the tv screen as soon as the VERY,VERY,VERY, first Picture comes up it could be anything depending what Image you are using you PRESS the Channel up button on and HOLD IT, YES HOLD IT IN UNTIL ON THE FRONT LCD SAYS "ERASE" once you see ERASE
let go of the botton and it will do a ERASE, the Erase will take anything from 30 Seconds to 2 to 3 minutes depending what Image you are using and you will still see the ERASE on the LCD until its finished where it boots up to the first menu ( Laungage selection) What I do after this is turn off the 240V off Disconnect the Scart, Disconnect the EARTH and now take the FLASHED box to my tv room connect all the cables, the I.f Imput gives the Dreambox back its earth, Connect of course the Network cable which is in my case is 45m away from the computer and FTP all the goodies accross.
Now Talk about goodies, No I won't its the end use job to do that, and If you buy the Boxes from Austech you will get support to a certain level, the rest is uo to you, Now the is the same on ALL the Forums as BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING AND READING.
Talk about reading Its taken me about 14 Months of reading and I still don't fully understand 100% what to do with these boxes, They are very HARD, Very Complicated, but VERY REWARDING When you can get them going, People ask what they can do, I say What they Can't do and there is not a BOX on this earth that can do what these little devils can do.
5/ I use a 300 Meg Hardrive in it, search the web for best Drive to use as some use to much CURRENTand the Older model (7000) Don't like it Yes the Maxtor uses the least amount of currect and won't overload the power supply.
I think the New models of Dreamboxes have fixed this problem. I'm not typing anymore to long to type!!!
HAVE FUN and do plenty of reading from forums related to these boxes

New Hydra7000 Phoenix 1.09 Final Image by The_Hydra

Fixes / New Features:
------------------------------------------------
- Playback fix (crash at the end of recordings)
- Web Interface 2.8
- USB boot fix

Features:
- 1.09 kernel (2.6.9)
- 1.09 enigma (2005.02.17)
- Front Processor version 1.05 (with keyboard mouse fixpack)
- Rdgdedit v1.7
(Radegast Edit Plugin by The_Hydra. mr_ mixer,

I feel like that black label jw. You bet it on the soccer game between Anorthosis and Malaka Spor and you lost 3 goals to 1.

[ 29. 7020 is the newer Model but please understand these boxes are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to setup, use and to understand. Read forums that support Dreamboxs, Click search on those forums to ask your questions you need to know.

No 7000 has the most and best support for the moment.

7020 runs 7000 images with a program called miniroot....it's definately the better box it's the latest model and more stable(almost impossible to kill), have a better flash...still there are the 5620's which are a cut down version for those who dont use usb or want to install a hard drive(they are still a pvr...just use a networked drive instead) I think they're a great box (and cheaper too). But definately the 7020 over the 7000!!

Ash

[ 01. August 2005, 03:34 PM: Message edited by: me_ashman ]
