The Serbian agency in charge of issuing broadcast licenses for TV and radio stations (Republicka radiodifuzna agencija - RRA) last week announced that 5 TV stations would receive a license for a nation-wide broadcast: TV Avala, Fox, B92, Kosava/Happy TV, and Pink. Ever since the announcement was made, there have been loud protests from the owners and management of BK TV since their station did NOT receive a license. In the past 24 hours, the war of words between RRA and BK TV escalated. As a result, last night all the terrestrial transmitters of BK TV were ordered to be shut down by th RRA, and indeed all the transmitters were placed out of services with the assistance of the police. This morning it seems that the cable providers (SBB, IKOM, PTT, and others) have ceased broadcasting BK TV as well. Pošto je RRA nezavisno regulatorno telo koje je izabrala Skupština Srbije, MUP je imao zakonsku obavezu da pruži traženu asistenciju u primeni te odluke.<br /><br />MUP ne odlu&#269;uje o radu medija niti &#263;e donositi bilo kakve odluke kada su u pitanju mediji, jer je to u potpunosti izvan nadležnosti policije. BK will organise a petition signing for the dismissal of the Serbian Broadcast Agency Council’s members.<br /><br />BK Television has stated that petitions will be handed out in a majority of Serbian cities calling for the council members to be relieved of their positions and for BK’s broadcasting licence to be reinstated. There will also be a protest today in front of the Serbian Government building in Belgrade at 1 pm.<br /><br />BK officials have announced that the station is continuing its broadcasts via satellite and that it can be seen in certain regions in Serbia and in most of Belgrade’s suburbs.<br /><br />One of the stations chief editors, Zoran Ciric, said that BK’s employees have sent a letter to the Serbian President, Prime Minister and Parliamentary Speaker, regarding the situation.<br /><br />Serbian Broadcast Agency Council member, Svetozar Stojanovic, said that the Parliament controls the work of the council and that it can only alter or have influence on the council’s actions and decisions through a very strict set of legal procedures.<br /><br />Commenting on the demands made by BK for the Serbian President and Prime Minister to investigate the work of the council, Stojanovic told Radio Television Serbia that they have nothing to say regarding the decisions of the council because these actions are not within their jurisdictions.<br /><br />The Council warned that all radio and television stations that rebroadcast BK TV’s programs will have charges press against them and their licences automatically revoked.

BK has been replaced by Pink Extra. What's the latest on BK?

BK TV is still broadcasting via satellite.
TV Plus replaced it with Pink Extra due to live broadcast of soccer match between SERBIA vs CZECH (3:1) happydanc

IMHO, I like this way more. Pink Extra is way more interesting than Orbis. Not a good news for Macedonians, but they have few channels on U.B.I.

BK TV does not broadcast via terrestrial network in Serbia, but many cable operators broadcast BK TV.
As you probably know, in Serbia, everything is connected and mixed with politics and elections are coming soon.

According to Wikipedia (we know how reliable they are), BK has ceased to operate, effective May 9th.

Hmmmm, so I wonder why it's still on TVPlus? LOL they could be playing back afew different tapes every few days and we'd be none the wiser!

BKTV primary feed and the main source of BKTV on Atlantic Bird was shut off a few days ago so you are most likely watching videos and who would notice as BKTV dont show much programming these days and now they show nothing....

I dont think Balkanmedia will stop operating it has nothing to do with BK tv. Balkanmedia transmits from Germany and is only avail on sat...I doubt balkanmedia has stopped operating as there was nothing on their website sayin that they have..as with BK well we knew it sooner or later might be time now for PALMA OR AVALA first serbian digital tv YUPPIE
