I made myself a small greenhouse today and it didn't cost me a dime. I made it out of things I had around the house. I'm a packrat by nature, but now in these more modern times, I reckon I'd be called a recycler.
I used: ~Our dog's old crate (cage) that she hasn't slept in for a couple of years. We kept it folded in it's box under our bed. ~Two old refrigerator shelves that I had saved when our old fridge died. My husband cut the refrigerator shelves off to fit the width. ~Heavy gauge wire, I made 8 hooks to hang the shelves to be adjustable.
I then put my plant trays in.
At night I'll cover it with plastic. During the day, until the seedlings get growing good, I'll move it between the shade and sunshine on the porch.
Best of all, I can break the greenhouse down and store it and use it again next year. Also I can empty it out and still use it for our dog or our kitten if need be. Cool!
Tah_Dah!!! I'm pleased as peaches with my brainstorm for this idea!!! ~dance of joy~
I would be proud of myself too, as would be my husband for saving money & still ending up w/something new! How very inventive of you, I wonder if you have any relatives by the name of MacGuyver? LOL!
