An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred only 6 minutes ago 31 miles north of Susitna North, Alaska, United States, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 4.1 miles beneath the epicenter near Susitna North, Matanuska-Susitna County, Alaska, USA, early morning on Monday 25 January 2021 at 1:44 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Chase (pop. 34) located 12 miles from the epicenter. In Talkeetna (pop. 880, 20 miles away), Trapper Creek (pop. 480, 22 miles away), and Susitna North (pop. 1,300, 31 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
