The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.1 quake in the United States near Kalifornsky, Kenai Peninsula County, Alaska, only 13 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Monday 1 March 2021 at 7:52 am local time at an intermediate depth of 62 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.3 earthquake.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Munina (pop. 880, 34 miles away), Anchor Point (pop. 1,900, 41 miles away), Cohoe (pop. 1,400, 45 miles away), and Kalifornsky (pop. 7,900, 46 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
