Magnitude 4.6 earthquake strikes near Tartagal, Departamento de General José de San MartÃn, Salta, Argentina 4.6 quake 28 Feb 4:21 pm (GMT -3) A magnitude 4.6 earthquake near Tartagal, Departamento de General José de San Martín, Salta, Argentina, was reported only 8 minutes ago by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a great depth of 537 km beneath the epicenter in the afternoon on Sunday 28 February 2021 at 4:21 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage.
