Moderate magnitude 4.7 earthquake 41 km northeast of Calama, Chile

Just 12 minutes ago, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Calama, Provincia de El Loa, Antofagasta, Chile. The tremor was recorded early morning on Sunday 28 February 2021 at 1:41 am local time, at an intermediate depth of 125 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.6 earthquake.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Calama (pop. 143,100) located 41 km from the epicenter, and San Pedro de Atacama (pop. 2,000) 68 km away.
