Small magnitude 3.0 quake hits 18 miles southeast of Issaquah, Washington, United States late at night 3.0 quake 30 May 11:30 pm (GMT -7) An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred late at night on Sunday 30 May 2021 at 11:30 pm local time near Issaquah, King County, Washington, USA, as reported by the United States Geological Survey. According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 7.5 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0 as well. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Riverbend (pop. 2,100) located 5 miles from the epicenter. In Issaquah (pop. 36,100, 18 miles away), Maple Valley (pop. 25,700, 19 miles away), West Lake Sammamish (pop. 33,900, 22 miles away), Union Hill-Novelty Hill (pop. 18,800, 23 miles away), Sammamish (pop. 52,300, 23 miles away), Covington (pop. 19,200, 24 miles away), Seattle (pop. 684,500, 33 miles away), and Tacoma (pop. 207,900, 40 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
