Significant 5.1 quake hits near Mati, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines
5.1 quake 10 Jun 10:42 am (GMT +8)

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 5.1 quake in the Philippines near Mati, Davao Oriental, Davao, only 15 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Thursday 10 June 2021 at 10:42 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.4 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency at magnitude 5.2, the United States Geological Survey at magnitude 4.9, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.9.
Generally quakes of this magnitude are recorded by more than one agency and the results can vary, with subsequent reports that come in after the first one often showing more accuracy.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Pondaguitan (pop. 2,100) located 56 km from the epicenter, Caburan (pop. 12,600) 86 km away, Tibanbang (pop. 7,800) 86 km away, Malita (pop. 41,100) 105 km away, Mati (pop. 105,900) 117 km away, and Alabel (pop. 43,300) 127 km away.
