Small 3.7 quake hits near Casper, Natrona County, Wyoming, USA

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.7 quake in the United States near Casper, Natrona County, Wyoming, only 21 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the evening on Sunday 1 August 2021 at 9:50 pm local time at a shallow depth of 7 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.7 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Rolling Hills (pop. 440) located 7 miles from the epicenter, and Mercedes (pop. 2,600) 9 miles away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Evansville (pop. 2,900) located 19 miles from the epicenter, Casper (pop. 60,300) 21 miles away, and Douglas (pop. 6,500) 32 miles away.
